

Michelle McBane
Managing Director | StandUp Ventures
Michelle McBane is the Managing Director of StandUp Ventures. Prior to StandUp, she held roles at 3 Canadian seed and Series A venture funds.
With over two decades of experience in venture capital and operations, McBane has been deeply committed to collaborating with innovative technology entrepreneurs who use disruptive technologies to address challenges in enterprise, health, and consumer markets. Her career includes managerial and product development roles, as well as positions in sales and marketing across engineering and scientific industries.
In 2017, McBane co-founded StandUp Ventures, aiming to demonstrate that investing with a gender perspective can yield better returns by fostering diverse leadership teams. Under her leadership, StandUp Ventures has invested in early-stage health and technology companies, supporting over 700 jobs. Notable investments include ODAIA, Arteria AI, Tealbook, Bridgit and Max Retail which have achieved significant funding milestones.
She is also an advisor at The Next Canada, a board member at the CVCA and an angel investor, further contributing to the growth and mentorship of the Canadian startup ecosystem.
Michelle holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Ottawa and an MBA from McMaster University.
