Alexandre Prefontaine

Principal, Industrial Innovation Venture Fund | BDC Capital

Alexandre joined BDC Capital in 2017, starting in the Strategy and Operations team, where he helped shape the Venture Capital roadmap through thought leadership, strategic partnerships, and capital allocation. After playing a key role in defining the Industrial Innovation Fund’s investment thesis, he transitioned to the Fund in 2019 and now serves as Principal, actively deploying capital from Fund II.

In his role, Alexandre leads investment activities from sourcing to negotiation and supports value creation across portfolio companies. He has participated in more than 15 transactions, including two successful exits, and has served on the boards of eight portfolio companies. Alexandre regularly lectures on venture capital at local universities and is a CDL Mentor.

Before joining BDC, Alexandre began his career in the financial sector with TD Canada Trust. He holds a master’s degree in financial economics from HEC Montréal and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Ottawa.
