Shez is currently Head of TD Innovation Partners (“TDIP”), the innovation banking division of TD Bank Group. Shez oversees the strategic, capital related, operational and growth initiatives at TDIP. Prior to TD, Shez was at SVB, where he oversaw strategic client coverage, ecosystem engagement and client acquisition strategy across Canada. Shez spent most of his career as an investor and was a Vice President at Third Eye Capital (“TEC”), Canada’s largest private debt and special situations investor. While at TEC, Shez led the turnaround and eventual sale of a construction services company, generating one of the highest returns for the firm. He also invested in complex primary and secondary distress-for-control credit transactions within the technology, oil and gas, and biotechnology industries.
Shez began his career at BMO Capital Partners, the Bank of Montreal’s principal investment division. With more than 10 years of direct private and public market investing experience, Shez’s background includes originating, structuring, and executing transactions across the capital structure and in a variety of industries and situations. He is a frequent speaker at conferences on investing in Technology thematically.
Shez lives in Toronto with his wife and daughter. Outside the office, Shez serves on the Investment Committee for Community Development Venture Fund, a nonprofit microloan company founded to support entrepreneurship, particularly among immigrants to Canada. He is also an Ambassador of Tech4SickKids and part of many Technology Industry Organizations, such as Alpha Networks and the C100.
