Speaker Alexander Barclay


Alexander is a Sr. Investment Manager with the MaRS Investment Accelerator Fund (IAF), and has led seed-stage investments in high-potential IT, health, and cleantech startups. He’s spent over a decade working with hardware & software across sectors, from enterprise cloud development to healthcare hardware financing.
A business strategist and corporate finance engineer by training, he’s led large-scale projects focusing on creating value through the digitization of legacy processes in Europe and North America, with a special focus on data-driven decision making. Over the course of his career, he’s consulted for a number of technology startups in spaces ranging from navigation to AI and is a member of the Schulich School of Business’ Tech Industry Advisory Council.
He holds an MBA from Schulich School of Business at York University with a focus on Strategic Management and Finance, along with a Bachelor of Science from Pepperdine University with a focus on International Business.
